Local 4th of July Festitivities!
Pottstown has a huge annual 4th of July celebration, and this past three-day weekend was no different. Families and friends gathered in backyards and local parks for cook-outs and picnics, to visit and to celebrate patriotism.
The very popular parade began at Center and Price Streets and traveled up Keim to then on to High Street and ended across from the MCC’s Art Gallery building. Hundredsof spectators lined High Street to watch parade participants ranging from veterans to highschool homecoming royalty. Some of the organizations that strolled in the paradewere the Bike Pottstown, BPOE Elks Lodge 814, Pottstown Rotary Club, The Shriner’s Band, The Pottstown Roller Derby Rock Stars, The Soap Box Derby Winners, andHistoric Pottstown Neighborhood Association. Also along the parade route were the traditional classic cars, politicians, and emergency rescue vehicles.
Highland Memorial Park hosted a carnival with amusement rides, gaming booths, and food stands. Throughout the day people at the park enjoyed baby contests, listened to several bands, and watched kids race their rubber ducks for charity. The evening ended after dark with an amazing fireworks display which is paid for by donors, the 5k runners, and flag/hat/ concession sales. The Pottstown 4th of July Homecoming Committee should be acknowledged and thanked for providing a fun time for all!
